Teacher Librarians and the School Library – Herring

I enjoyed reading this article and am struck by just how important it is to have a library mission statement which encapsulates the teacher librarian’s role as provider of and leader through the myriad of e-learning resources available to students today.

For my particular school it is a challenge to provide opportunities for students where some fortunate students have access to their own laptop and i-pad with unlimited download limits while other students have neither a computer nor internet access at home.  For some of our students the internet is second nature and the internet is part of their everyday lives while for others it is a rare luxury bestowed upon them by the school as often as we can make possible.

Let’s hope that in light of this reading I can rewrite our library mission statement to meet these needs in an engaging and educational manner.

How Lucky Am I!!

I am constantly amazed at how incredible the internet is and I feel privileged to be the school educator responsible for leading students through such a wealth of resources.

I am thoroughly enjoying being back at university and I think that this current study will be a valuable lesson for both my own students and the students I teach as it lets them see that:

We are never too old or too young to learn but

everyday holds a lesson if we let it!
